Most flooring complaints are not about the flooring. They are about the subfloor underneath it - a floor that was not levelled, or a moisture test that never happened.
Winnipeg is unusually hard on wood floors. Indoor humidity swings from around 20 per cent in a cold January to well over 50 per cent in July, and solid hardwood moves with it. We acclimatize material on site before installation and leave the expansion gaps that keep boards from cupping or gapping.
For basements and slabs we will tell you honestly when engineered or luxury vinyl is the better choice than solid hardwood, even though it is often the cheaper line on the quote.
